SARCHA (School of ARCHitecture for All) invites young people (18-32 years old) to participate in the Athens Travelers program; those interested will work together to map, understand and review the city resources in the seven (7) Athenian municipal districts to produce a different Athens city guide. The participants will plan and design city itineraries based on their individual experiences to turn them into ‘in common’ city explorations by guiding others around.
If the 19th century travelers were after the Athenian past, the travelers of the program seek to understand the effects of a city tormented by social unrest and economic instability. Young Athenians have been already mobilized since 2008, for they know: the city’s human, physical and natural resources hold a potential for a productive activation and recombination. That which appears monstrous in today’s Athens might be just the announcement of a future we haven’t thought of. The program asks the city’s youth to choose specific city itineraries and present city features conceived as problematic, that is, as that which holds the potential to reframe.
The Athens Travelers are not the city’s drifters. City drifting has been used to relate individuals to the changing condition of the metropolis. As such, it has been a favorite activity in the 20th century that has been embodied either in the poetic and ecstatic figure of the flaneur or turned into psycho-geography walks in the attempt to revoke the effects of city fragmentation. The young people to whom this open call is addressed and invites them to introduce everyone else to their Athens itineraries are:
• Insiders: the ‘From within’ city connoisseurs
• Ιn-sight-seers: who see the ‘would-be’ in the place of despair and in the state of deadlock
• Inciters: who stimulate a reassembling of humans, buildings/unbuilt spaces and nature
1st working-together meeting: February 19, 2012
The 1st working-together meeting will take place in February 19, 2012 at the Auditorium Athina 9.84FM, Technopolis Gazi 100 Peraios str (Metro Keramikos) at 18.00-20.00. The aim of the meeting is to work together to prepare the submission of proposals for specific itineraries in Athens. Following the first working-together meeting on 19/02/2012, those interested should submit their proposals by 24/2/2012. The submission form is available at
http://www.athenstravelers.sarcha.gr/ ; it should be submitted on line and filled with the following information: (required fields) name, date of birth, e-mail, telephone number, title of proposed itinerary, duration of itinerary (up to 2h), means of transport (walking, public transport, bicycle, other), Itinerary description (300 words). Optional: Occupation, Google Map URL. You may submit more than one (and up to three) proposals for itineraries by filling and submitting a different form for each one.
Programme timeline info
The program will run for two months (February 1- March 31, 2012). Proposed itineraries will be developed in collaboration with the SARCHA team, during a two days seminar on March 3-4, 2012. The itineraries will be publicly announced on March 9, 2012 in the context of a program of guided tours open to the general public. The city explorations tours will take place on March 17-18, 2012 and the tour guides will be the participants of the Athens Travelers program. Aims
In the current economic circumstances in which despair reigns supreme and the youth faces social exclusion and the fast raising unemployment rate, the Athens Travelers program creates an opening for the youths’ innovative force; it aims to bring together young people from different educational, social and cultural backgrounds and the young with fewer opportunities (the young unemployed, immigrants, with special skills, ex-delinquents or ex-addicts, etc) to nourish mutual understanding, support and cooperation.
This program is a carefully planned type of the so called ‘non formal’ learning and it is designed to have multiple results and added value. The young participants of the Athens Travelers program are expected to transfer their knowledge/practice to their co-peers and work together to create a number of alternative guided city tours. The Athens Travelers program will provide not only a productive outlet for the young but it may create an alternative source of income in the long run.
Organizers The Athens Travelers program is organized by SARCHA (School of ARCHitecture for All) Expenses for the creation and production of the program’s printed and digital material, the program’s webpage as well as the guided tour and the related seminar and other meeting expenses are covered by the program.

Προθεσμία υποβολής : 24 Φεβρουαρίου 2012 Η SARCHA (School of ARCHitecture for All) με το πρόγραμμα Νέοι Περιηγητές στην Αθήνα προσκαλεί νέους ηλικίας 18-32 ετών και των επτά (7) δημοτικών διαμερισμάτων της Αθήνας να εκδηλώσουν το ενδιαφέρον τους για να εργαστούν από κοινού σε μια προσπάθεια καταγραφής, κατανόησης, ανάδειξης και ανάταξης των αστικών πόρων της περιοχής που διαβιούν και της παραγωγής ενός νέου και διαφορετικού οδηγού περιήγησης της Αθήνας που θα έχει σχεδιαστεί από τους νέους με βάση τον τρόπο που αυτοί βιώνουν την πόλη για να την συστήσουν στους άλλους - νέους και όχι μόνο. Σε μια σειρά συναντήσεων /σεμιναρίων, όσοι ενδιαφέρονται να συμμετάσχουν θα συνεργαστούν για το σχεδιασμό διαδρομών και την οργάνωση ανοικτών περιηγήσεων.
Αν οι περιηγητές του 19ου αιώνα αναζητούσαν στην Αθήνα τη μαγεία του παρελθόντος, οι νέοι περιηγητές επιδιώκουν να κατανοήσουν τα σύγχρονα αστικά φαινόμενα μιας πόλης που βυθίζεται στην οικονομική και κοινωνική κρίση αλλά που οι άνθρωποι, τα κτίρια και το φυσικό της περιβάλλον συνιστούν την υπαρκτή δυναμική της να ανασχηματιστεί. ‘Ότι μπορεί να φαίνεται «τερατώδες» στην Αθήνα σήμερα, ίσως προαναγγέλλει ένα άλλον μέλλον που δεν το έχουμε ακόμα φανταστεί. Ζητάμε λοιπόν από τους νέους –που ήδη έχουν αρχίσει να αγωνιούν να δημιουργήσουν με τις σκέψεις τους και τις πράξεις τους μια «άλλη» Αθήνα - να μας παρουσιάσουν μέσω περιηγήσεων που θα σχεδιάσουν αυτό που βλέπουν όχι μόνο ως πρόβλημα αλλά και ως δυνατότητα.
Η περιήγηση των σύγχρονων μητροπόλεων, ιστορικά συνδέεται με την ιδιαίτερη σχέση που αναπτύσσουν τα άτομα με τις μεταβαλλόμενες πόλεις του 20ου αιώνα είτε αφορά το ποιητικό και εκστατικό βίωμα του flaneur, είτε τις ψυχο-γεωγραφικές διαδρομές που επιδιώκουν να αποκαταστήσουν την αποσπασματική εμπειρία της πόλης. Οι Νέοι Περιηγητές της Αθήνας σήμερα είναι:
• Insiders: οι ‘εκ των έσω’ γνώστες της πόλης τους
• Ιn-sight-seers: οι ‘ενορατικοί’ που διαβλέπουν τις δυνατότητες εκεί που υπάρχει μόνο απελπισία και αδιέξοδο και
• Ιnciters: οι ‘υποκινητές’ για την ανάδυση μιας νέας σχέσης κτιρίων, ανθρώπων και φύσης
Α΄ Ανοικτή συνάντηση 19 Φεβρουαρίου 2012
Η πρώτη ανοικτή συνάντηση των Νέων Περιηγητών θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 19 Φεβρουαρίου στην Αθήνα στο αμφιθέατρο Αθήνα 9.84FM, Τεχνόπολις Γκάζι Πειραιώς 100 ώρα 18.00-20.00). Στόχος της συνάντησης είναι η συνεργασία/προεργασία για την διατύπωση και υποβολή συγκεκριμένων προτάσεων διαδρομών/περιηγήσεων. Η συνάντηση είναι ανοικτή σε κάθε ενδιαφερόμενο και μπορείτε να δηλώσετε συμμετοχή στέλνοντας ε-μαιλ με τα στοιχεία σας στο

Η υποβολή των προτάσεων διαδρομών θα γίνει στη συνέχεια της πρώτης συνάντησης στις 19/02/2012 και μέχρι τις 24/02/2012, στον επίσημο ιστότοπο του προγράμματος
http://www.athenstravelers.sarcha.gr/ Κάθε ενδιαφερόμενος καλείται να υποβάλλει αφού συμπληρώσει online στο έντυπο δήλωσης συμμετοχής για σχεδιασμό διαδρομής τα παρακάτω στοιχεία: Υποχρεωτικά πεδία: ονοματεπώνυμο, ημερομηνία γέννησης, e-mail, τηλέφωνο, τίτλο διαδρομής, ενδεικτική διάρκεια προτεινόμενης διαδρομής (μέγιστη διάρκεια διαδρομής 2 ώρες), μέσο μετακίνησης (πεζή, ποδήλατο, μέσα συγκοινωνίας, άλλο), σύντομη περιγραφή διαδρομής (300 λέξεις) Προαιρετικά πεδία: απασχόληση, επισύναψη χάρτη Google Map URL της προτεινόμενης διαδρομής. Κάθε ενδιαφερόμενος μπορεί να προτείνει περισσότερες από μία (και το ανώτερο μέχρι τρείς) διαδρομές συμπληρώνοντας και υποβάλλοντας ένα έντυπο για κάθε μια διαφορετική διαδρομή.
Διάρκεια προγράμματος
Η συνολική διάρκεια του προγράμματος είναι δύο μήνες (1 Φεβρουαρίου 2012 - 31 Μαρτίου 2012). Οι διαδρομές θα σχεδιαστούν σε μορφή χαρτών με ενιαίο τρόπο σε συνεργασία με την ομάδα εργασίας της SARCHA κατά την διάρκεια ειδικού σεμιναρίου 3-4 Μαρτίου 2012 και θα ανακοινωθούν μέχρι τις 9 Μαρτίου 2012. Οι περιηγήσεις προβλέπεται να πραγματοποιηθούν 17-18 Μαρτίου 2012 και το κοινό θα μπορεί να δηλώσει συμμετοχή μετά από ανοικτή πρόσκληση. Η τελική εκδήλωση παρουσίασης του προγράμματος και των αποτελεσμάτων του προγραμματίζεται στις 31 Μαρτίου 2012. Αναλυτικό χρονοδιάγραμμα του προγράμματος θα αναρτηθεί στην ιστοσελίδα σε συνέχεια της πρώτης συνάντησης.
Στόχοι
Στην παρούσα δεινή οικονομική κατάσταση της χώρας, στην οποία κυριαρχεί η απογοήτευση και οι νέοι αντιμετωπίζουν την ραγδαία αύξηση της ανεργίας αλλά και το φάσμα του κοινωνικού αποκλεισμού, το πρόγραμμα αυτό έχει ως βασικό στόχο να προσφέρει μια διέξοδο στην νεανική επινοητική ορμή, φέρνοντας σε επαφή νέους από διαφορετικά εκπαιδευτικά, κοινωνικά και πολιτισμικά υπόβαθρα - και, ιδίως, νέους με λιγότερες ευκαιρίες (όπως, νέοι άνεργοι, μετανάστες, με ειδικές ικανότητες, πρώην παραβάτες ή εξαρτημένοι, κλπ) - προωθώντας έτσι την αλληλοκατανόηση, την αλληλοϋποστήριξη, και την συνεργασία μεταξύ τους.
Πρόκειται για ένα οργανωμένο πρόγραμμα ‘μη τυπικής μάθησης’, με πολλαπλά αποτελέσματα και υπολογίσιμη προστιθέμενη αξία. Μετά την παρακολούθηση του προγράμματος, οι «νέοι περιηγητές» θα μπορούν να λειτουργήσουν ως εκπαιδευτές σε άλλους νέους, δημιουργώντας ένα σύνολο περιηγήσεων που να είναι στη διάθεση όλων όσων επιθυμούν να περιηγηθούν με διαφορετικό τρόπο στην πόλη. Με αυτό τον τρόπο οι νέοι περιηγητές θα μπορούν να αποκτήσουν όχι μόνο μια δημιουργική ενασχόληση αλλά και, δυνητικά, μια εναλλακτική πηγή εισοδήματος.
Οργάνωση
Το Νέοι Περιηγητές στην Αθήνα διοργανώνεται από τη SARCHA (School of ARCHitecture for All). Τα έξοδα παραγωγής έντυπου και ψηφιακού υλικού, η δημιουργία της ειδικά σχεδιασμένης ιστοσελίδας και τα έξοδα οργάνωσης περιηγήσεων και συναντήσεων καλύπτονται από το πρόγραμμα.
